It's a Wrap!
Use the following chart as a guide to create fun and delicious wraps that your whole family will love! Use your imagination to expand on these ideas and create your own. Tortillas come in a variety of flavors ? try them all! Sun dried tomato and spinach tortillas work well with savory wraps, while plain or whole wheat tortillas work well with fruity or other sweet fillings. Looking for some variety? Try lavash bread instead! For a Gluten Free alternative, use Gluten Free tortillas, ivory teff wraps (The Tortilla Factory brand) or brown rice wraps. Or, you can make as a sandwich on rice cakes or bread made from rice flour.

Waste Not!
It has been estimated that on average a school-age child using a disposable lunch generates 67 pounds of waste per school year. That equates to 18,760 pounds of lunch waste for just one average-size elementary school. Get your kids involved and try these alternatives to create a waste-free lunch:
- Pack lunches in a reusable lead-free lunch box or lunch bag.
- Pack a reusable drink container instead of juice boxes, juice pouches, cans, and disposable plastic bottles.
- Instead of packing a paper napkin, use a cloth one (baby wash cloths, or cut up old t-shirts work great for this!)
- Pack stainless-steel utensils instead of using disposable plastics.
- Pack lunch items in reusable containers. Avoid using plastic wraps, plastic bags, wax-paper bags, and aluminum foil. This also aids in portion control.
- Buy in bulk instead of purchasing pre-packaged items. This will save you money, and you can reuse or recycle the containers at home.
