What's Cooking is looking for qualified volunteers to work with local school children and facilitate cooking activities during the day. After School Cooking Teachers

Whats Cooking is a certified green company based in Marin County that offers healthy and seasonal cooking classes and parties for children. We currently offer after-school cooking classes in several San Rafael schools, in the Ross Valley school district and through the town of San Anselmo. In the recent past, we have also offered classes through the Marin JCC preschool and Marin Primary School.

Job Description:
We are seeking enthusiastic individuals who would like to teach hands-on cooking classes to children in several Marin County and San Francisco public and private schools. Teachers will be provided with curriculum for their first series of classes, and will then be invited to create their own curriculum, with supervision by Whats Cooking. Each class session lasts for one hour, with the series of classes lasting from 6-10 weeks. Teaching positions are available for up to 5 days a week, with occasional back-to-back classes on each day (for younger and older students). If teachers are interested, there may also be the opportunity to teach private cooking parties and special events on the weekends.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Shop for ingredients for each class
Bring appropriate tools and food to each class
Maintain a safe, clean and organized working space
Teach appropriate curriculum, provided by or pre-approved by Whats Cooking
Clean up your working area after class is over

Requirements:

Must have experience working with school-aged children, in a controlled setting
Loves healthy cooking
Must be comfortable working with children in a distracting environment
Responsible and reliable
At least two references who can speak to your ability to work well with children

Compensation:

Teachers will earn approximately $50 for each class, payable after the entire series is completed.
You will receive approximately $17/student for materials for your entire class series
